Global Digital Network (Thematic Sub-Committee)

About

  • The Global Digital Network is a committee focused on creating and supporting a vibrant virtual community for CMT Association members around the world. Its volunteers leverage digital platforms to deliver year-round educational programming, networking events, and study groups that transcend geographical boundaries.
  • Online community has been part of our Association’s DNA since the 1980s, when members connected via a “bulletin board system” (BBS). The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated this trend, forcing a pivot to virtual conferences and remote exam proctoring. This committee now formalizes our “virtual everything” strategy, ensuring all members can connect and learn, regardless of location.

Mission

The mission of the Global Digital Network is to create and sustain a vibrant, borderless virtual community that connects CMT Association members around the world, transcending geographical limitations. We leverage cutting-edge digital platforms to deliver year-round, high-quality educational programming, networking events, and peer-to-peer study groups. Our core value is accessibility, ensuring that every member, regardless of their physical location or time zone, has equal access to the professional benefits, knowledge-sharing, and camaraderie of the Association. By serving as the primary virtual hub, we maximize engagement and foster a sense of professional belonging in a modern, digital-first environment.

Understanding Groups and Gigs

What is a Group?

A Group is an ongoing, strategic body of volunteers who collaborate on a defined mission over an extended period. Groups have formal governance, defined membership, and regular meeting cadences. Joining a group means becoming part of a team committed to driving long-term impact within CMT.

What is a Gig?

A Gig is a short-term, tactical assignment with a clear deliverable and timeline. Gigs are ideal for volunteers who want to contribute their expertise to a specific task without a long-term commitment. They are time-boxed and goal-oriented.
