Admissions Committee

About

The Admissions Committee is the gatekeeper for professional membership in CMT Association. This dedicated group of senior Charter Holders and Professional Members meticulously reviews all applications to ensure that candidates meet the rigorous standards of experience and professionalism required to join our community. For decades, admission into the Association was based on a simple requirement: the applicant had to be an equity market letter writer. Over time, as the discipline expanded, the criteria evolved. The Admissions Committee was formalized to manage a more inclusive but rigorous application process, reflecting the diverse roles CMT charterholders now hold across the industry.

Mission

The singular mission of the Admissions Committee is to serve as the uncompromising, ethical gatekeeper for professional membership and the CMT designation. We are a dedicated group of senior Charter Holders and Professional Members who meticulously review every application to ensure candidates meet the rigorous standards of professional experience, ethical standing, and commitment to the discipline. Our core value is protecting the prestige and high standard of the CMT designation. By ensuring that only qualified individuals join our ranks, we maintain the integrity of the charter, which is paramount to its recognition within the global financial industry. We build trust by guaranteeing that when an employer or client sees a CMT charterholder, they are confident in that professional’s competence, judgment, and adherence to our high code of ethics.

Understanding Groups and Gigs

What is a Group?

A Group is an ongoing, strategic body of volunteers who collaborate on a defined mission over an extended period. Groups have formal governance, defined membership, and regular meeting cadences. Joining a group means becoming part of a team committed to driving long-term impact within CMT.

What is a Gig?

A Gig is a short-term, tactical assignment with a clear deliverable and timeline. Gigs are ideal for volunteers who want to contribute their expertise to a specific task without a long-term commitment. They are time-boxed and goal-oriented.
