The Events Committee is the creative force behind CMT Association’s flagship global conferences, including the annual Symposium and regional Summits. This dynamic group of volunteers designs engaging, educational, and inspiring programs that bring our global community together to learn from the industry’s leading minds. Annual conferences have been a cornerstone of our Association since the very first Annual Seminar was held in 1976. These events were created to bring practitioners together to share ideas and build professional bonds. The Events Committee proudly continues this tradition, now producing global events like the APAC Summit that connect our community across continents.

Understanding Groups and Gigs
What is a Group?
A Group is an ongoing, strategic body of volunteers who collaborate on a defined mission over an extended period. Groups have formal governance, defined membership, and regular meeting cadences. Joining a group means becoming part of a team committed to driving long-term impact within CMT.
What is a Gig?
A Gig is a short-term, tactical assignment with a clear deliverable and timeline. Gigs are ideal for volunteers who want to contribute their expertise to a specific task without a long-term commitment. They are time-boxed and goal-oriented.

Core Activities
Design and curate engaging, educational, and inspiring programs. Recommend themes, topics, and speakers for major events. Provide input on event format, logistics, and marketing. Assist with speaker outreach and content coordination. Gather feedback for continuous improvement of event quality. |

Recommended Time Commitment & Cadence
8–15 hrs/month off-peak; 20–30 hrs/month in the ~90 days before major events (program review, abstracts, logistics). (pspa.net)
Member Appointment & Term
BYLAWS §8.02(E): The members of the committee shall be appointed by the committee chair with the approval of the Board to serve for a term of one (1) year or such longer period as the Board may determine, provided that no individual shall serve as a member of a committee (including anytime as committee chair) for more than four (4) consecutive years.
