The Executive Committee is a core leadership group of the Board of Directors, consisting of the nominated Officers and the Executive Director. 6It is empowered to act on behalf of the full Board, providing agile decision-making and leadership continuity between Board meetings to address urgent matters and guide day-to-day governance. While a formal Executive Committee evolved with the Association’s governance structure, its roots lie in the close collaboration of the first officers. Co-founders Ralph J. Acampora, John Brooks, and John Greeley worked alongside early presidents like Robert J. Farrell and Alan R. Shaw to make key decisions that shaped the organization’s future.
The Executive Committee’s mission is to ensure seamless, agile, and continuous leadership for the CMT Association, especially in the periods between full Board meetings. As the core leadership hub, we are empowered to act decisively on behalf of the Board to address urgent organizational matters and oversee day-to-day governance. This group, composed of the elected officers and the Executive Director, coordinates the strategic activities of all other committees, ensuring unified progress toward our shared goals. We prioritize operational efficiency and leadership continuity, acting as a strategic counsel to the CEO. Our value lies in providing focused guidance that allows the Association to be responsive to the dynamic needs of our global membership, keeping the strategic momentum strong and guaranteeing that the organization is consistently moving forward with purpose and direction.

Understanding Groups and Gigs
A Group is an ongoing, strategic body of volunteers who collaborate on a defined mission over an extended period. Groups have formal governance, defined membership, and regular meeting cadences. Joining a group means becoming part of a team committed to driving long-term impact within CMT.
A Gig is a short-term, tactical assignment with a clear deliverable and timeline. Gigs are ideal for volunteers who want to contribute their expertise to a specific task without a long-term commitment. They are time-boxed and goal-oriented.
